The Exo Terra Reptile UVB200 provides medium levels of UVB radiation, designed to mimic conditions found in semi-shaded or partially sunny habitats. These environments are typical for reptiles that are occasional baskers or those that spend part of their time in direct sunlight.

With its 7% UVB output, the UVB200 delivers the balanced UVB exposure required for healthy vitamin D3 production and efficient calcium metabolism, helping prevent metabolic bone disease (MBD). This bulb aligns with Ferguson Zone 2 and the Mesophotic Zone, making it ideal for partial sun baskers that regulate their UV exposure between shaded and sunlit areas. Its medium UV intensity supports reptiles natural behaviours while promoting optimal health and vitality. Perfect for enclosures with basking zones and shaded retreats, the UVB200 allows reptiles to self-regulate their exposure, ensuring a well-rounded and stimulating environment. When paired with Exo Terra heat lamps, this bulb creates an ideal combination for maintaining temperature gradients and UV balance in the terrarium.

The innovative Sunergy phosphor blend sets Exo Terras Reptile UVB T5 lamps apart. Sunergy is a state-of-the-art phosphor blend developed using German precision technology to replicate the energy spectrum of the sun, particularly in the UV range. This cutting-edge blend comes closer to natural sunlight than any other lamp on the market and is designed to meet the highest standards, delivering unmatched quality and performance. With Sunergy, Exo Terras Reptile UVB T5 lamps provide reptiles with the UVB they need for health, vitality, and natural behaviour.

Exo Terras T5 UVB bulbs are engineered to provide sufficient and biologically effective UVB output for up to 12 months, offering a reliable and energy-efficient solution for long-term reptile care.Specifically designed to integrate seamlessly with Exo Terra T5 fixtures and compatible with other standard T5 fluorescent light holders, these bulbs offer versatility and practicality for any terrarium setup. Their reliable performance and exceptional quality make them an essential component for creating optimal habitats that meet the diverse needs of reptiles.

The Exo Terra Reptile UVB200 VHO T5 Bulb helps promote healthy Vitamin D3 synthesis, which in turn facilitates improved calcium absorption safeguarding against Metabolic Bone Disease. Its UVA and UVB emissions surpass those of traditional T8 bulbs and energy-efficient alternatives, while enhanced UVB penetration extends its suitability for use in taller terrariums or those equipped with denser screens. For optimal results and prolonged lifespan of the bulb, we recommend using it in conjunction with the Exo Terra T5 Terrarium Top High-Performance Reptile UVB Fixture.

The longer sizes can be placed across multiple terrariums.

Long-lasting UVB output (12+ months).

Keepers can use the UV Index reference values to ensure that animals are exposed to an appropriate level of UV when basking. The intensity of the emissions varies depending on the distance from the basking area. Creating a gradient from highest safe UV index at the basking area to lowest UV index in cooler areas means they can completely self-regulate alongside their thermoregulatory behaviours. They should not be allowed to expose themselves to more than a safe maximum and should have the freedom to escape all light completely with areas of zero UV and Infrared. This can be achieved by strategically adding plants, hides, and decorative items to create shaded zones.

The UV radiation output of all UV-emitting bulbs gradually decreases over time. To ensure your animals consistently receive sufficient UV exposure, we recommend replacing the Exo Terra Reptile UVB T5 tube or any other UV bulb at least every 12 months.

To support the efficient conversion of vitamin D3 and enhance various metabolic and hormonal processes, it is beneficial to ensure that UV light exposure is complemented by an ample supply of infrared-A (NIR) radiation. The most effective sources can be found in Tungsten Halogen or standard Incandescent Spot Bulbs, such as the Exo Terra Intense Basking Spot or Halogen Basking Spot. This combination promotes optimal body temperature regulation and overall well-being.

Features

Prevents Metabolic Bone Disease

Metabolic bone disease (MBD) is a prevalent disorder in captive reptiles resulting from mineral imbalances, primarily calcium, phosphorus, and insufficient vitamin D3. Symptoms include weak bones, tremors, and lethargy. A crucial cause is the lack of ultraviolet B (UVB) light exposure. Reptiles need UVB for vitamin D3 synthesis, vital for calcium processing. Using UVB lights is essential to prevent MBD.
Enhanced Immunity
UVB light plays a pivotal role in reptile health, especially in synthesizing vitamin D3. This vitamin not only aids calcium metabolism, vital for bone health, but also fortifies the reptile’s immune system. When reptiles absorb UVB rays, they produce vitamin D3, which in turn helps regulate immune responses and combat diseases. Appropriate UVB exposure is instrumental in strengthening the immunity of reptiles, making them less susceptible to various ailments.

Improved Appetite

Ultraviolet light (UVA and UVB rays) is crucial for the overall well-being of reptiles. Exposure to these wavelengths stimulates natural behaviours and promotes appetite, breeding, and overall reptile health. UVA mainly enhances well-being and vision, influencing activities like mating and food foraging. UVB aids in synthesizing vitamin D3, which impacts calcium metabolism and overall vitality. Combined, UVA and UVB light boosts a reptile’s appetite, making them more active and inclined to eat.
